New Year's Eve!

We spent New Year's Eve at my parents' house enjoying dinner with some friends.  My Maw Maw Yvonne has been visiting all week and we were excited to spend some time with her.  My Mom cooked a delicious meal for everyone (there were nearly 20 of us), we visited, and toasted the new year with champagne at midnight.  This was perfect for us because we just put SG to bed when she was ready and came back down to visit with everyone!

SG was quite social visiting with everyone and occasionally reaching out to be held.  Here she is with Mom's friend Jacquie.  Jacquie is their walking buddy in the mornings and SG knows her quite well.


After dinner we had a good time playing a competitive game of Mad Game. 

The competition was fierce.  It's a fun party game that doesn't require a lot of pieces or everyone fitting around a table.  It doesn't even require a specific number of players!

Aaron and I toasted the new year with some red sparkling wine.  I like it better than real champagne, I'm funny like that. 

It was a bit of a struggle to stay up so late and it felt like SG was awake 5 minutes after I went to sleep, but it was a fun evening and way more exciting than faling asleep on the couch at home.

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
