Minecrafter

Image
Charlie is very passionate about playing Minecraft! He loves to come show me what he has created and how he did it! He loves it so much and it is the first thing he thinks about in the morning and the last thing he wants to do at night!

Famous Composers

Image
In music, they have been learning about famous composers. They were asked to do a presentation on a composer they selected and could choose to do something like a skit. Sarah Graves chose George Gershwin because she really enjoyed his piece, Rhapsody in Blue .  She wrote a short skit showing how he was introduced to music as a child. First the violin and later he learned the piano.  I am always impressed when teachers make history and learning come to life for our kids!

Cub Scouts

Image
Aaron and Charlie ready to head out for a Cub Scout meeting to do a hike and learn to use a compass. Charlie is wearing Aaron's Cub Scout cap from when he was a boy.   Charlie is in Wolves this year and Aaron continues to be a den leader and a big part of the pack leadership. Their activities look different this year as they must ensure they can distance themselves and spend time outside.

Fun with Grancy & Gramma

Image
Time with Grancy and Gramma is always fun!  Gramma brought Caddo Parish Monopoly and taught Charlie about places around Caddo Parish while having a good time. He won, of course! Sissy loves to make chocolate pie with Grancy! She keeps the recipe written down and could probably make it on her own, but it is her special thing with Grancy and she looks forward to it every time.  Watching the Tigers play football! Charlie loves to eat the chocolate pie they bake together! Charlie also proudly showed off his Alexa know how when he made an "announcement" dropping in to the kitchen and letting them know he would be reading aloud in 5 minutes! Their visits are always over too soon and we look forward to them coming back!

On the Run!

Image
Sarah Graves was on the run again at another cross country meet!  She was strong throughout and finished proudly! She was so excited to be cheered on by Grancy and Gramma! So nice to have cheerleaders!

We've Got Spirit!

Image
We love spirit wear Fridays! The last Friday of the month is usually spirit wear day and they get so excited for it!

Gaming

Image
Sissy loves Mad Libs and loves to play this Mad Libs game! We get some good laughs out of the funny phrases that come out of it! Charlie is passionate about Minecraft! He LOVES to play, learn to build new things, and proudly show off his new creations!

School Days for Sissy

Image
Sarah Graves has a really sweet homeroom teacher who does so much to take pictures of the kids and give parents a glimpse into their school day! Getting in some activity during recess.  First science lab. Showing off those wafting skills! They did a really fun social studies project to learn all about Smyrna! They became Smyrna Sleuths. When it was time for Ms. Phillips' birthday, her students showed her the love! They took it upon themselves to make a party complete with homemade cards, birthday cake, decorating her desk, and gifts! So sweet to see them growing up and showing initiative.

Happy Birthday, Nay!

Image
Nay wanted to celebrate her birthday with a grownup dinner at Stoney River. She secured a babysitter and we were off for a fun evening! Look at us having martinis in the bar before dinner! Feeling like real adults. Feeling so happy (and full) after a very yummy dinner. My favorite was the steak roll!  Since we pretty much never go out without the kids, they were a little shocked that we would celebrate without them. So, Sarah Graves baked Nay a cinnamon cake and we enjoyed it after our dinner.  Charlie was ready to dig in! This girl is so sweet and wanted to be sure Nay had a fun birthday!

Cross Country

Image
I am so proud of Sarah Graves and her effort with cross country! She was so proud when they put a yard sign out to show off her being part of the team! Running has proved tough for Sarah Graves, but she keeps at it! She gets nauseous and frequently throws up after practice and meets. I hate it that she feels sick, but am so proud that she keeps with it, wants to go back to it every day, and doesn't let it get her down.  The second meet of the season was south of Atlanta, so our field trips continue! Lovie came with us to cheer her on and Charlie had the chance to miss so he could be with a friend.  She may look small, but this girl has so much tenacity! She makes me so proud.
