Mother's Day

Image
We had a great mother's day! It was a relaxed day spent enjoying time together having fun. I couldn't have asked for more!  Aaron and the kids had sweet and thoughtful gifts and cards they were eager to give me. Then, we went out for bagels and a few things at Costco (I love going to Costco!). My parents had everyone at their house for a delicious lunch! Dad smoked a fabulous brisket, and mom made the most heavenly smoked gouda mac'n cheese, spinach salad, and cake and ice cream for dessert!  We had time for the kids to play and hang out. They love to play with Livy! Livy loved on her momma. Sarah Graves helped me make this "bouquet" of scratch offs for Lovie and couldn't wait to give it to her! None of our tickets were really winners, but it was fun to do! They all love each other so! Getting a little handstand practice! The big treat was the kids played and hung out while the grownups watched the move, "Hidde

Muffins with Mom

Image
I had a special treat going to Muffins for Moms with my main man!  We had some time to kill before the event, so we popped into QT and he spotted the doughnut case. At first he thought he should wait until the event at school, but he quickly picked his chocolate iced doughnut and enjoyed it! He was so happy to have me come to school with him! There were lots of muffins, juice, and coffee! I got a sweet treat and Charlie made me a pot with seeds planted, a sweet drawing,  and he wrote some nice things about me! I felt special and had a great time with him!

Charlie the Builder

Image
Charlie loves to build things! Legos are one of his favorite ways to build. His preference is freeform building using his own imagination and ingenuity. I love to hear ideas and get insight into how that little mind works!

Glamour Girl

Sarah Graves was really pumped about these new sunglasses! She came home and used her iPad to do her own selfie photos! She did a great job with them! I love the rockstar element to them!

Super Kids, the Musical!

Image
Sarah Graves' school uses a language arts curriculum called Super Kids. They use it K-2nd and the Super Kids get a little just like the kids. The kids seem to love it and are very attached to these kids. Their social studies teach wrote and organized a musical based on the Super Kids and incorporated Spanish, music, drama, and of course, language arts into it. It was super cute and the kids liked like they had a ball doing it! Because there are many more 1st graders than there are Super Kids, each part was shared by several kids. I love how they did headshots for the show! She has talked about and continues to sing songs from the show. Such a fun and memorable thing to do!

May Day

Image
May Day weather was unusually cool and super windy, but at least the heavy rain had moved out and we had a sunny day!I helped with the preschool bake sale (lots of yummy treats) and Aaron helped monitor the kids on the jump houses. In between volunteering, we kept an eye on the kiddos. The kids love the event because their friends are there and they can just maneuver on their own. They come back when they need money for food and drink! All the parents keep an eye on the kids making the community feeling even bigger.  Charlie hung out with his buddy Evan eating snow cones.  This bull riding activity was new this year and the kids got a big kick out of it! SG with her friends, Olivia and Sienna Charlie had the bat sign painted on his face. He was thrilled! Sissy had a butterfly painted on her face. They were tired but happy when we headed home. It was all we could do to keep Char awake on the ride home and he fell asleep that evening by 6! Jumpi

Swim Team Tryouts

Image
There is a community swim team called the Smyrna Sharks. It is actually two separate teams as well as a rookie practice team. Because there is a high demand and they have several options for the teams, they require all kids over age 5 do a tryout. One of the things I admire about Sarah Graves is how eager she is to try everything in life. She wants to do swim team and was happy to do the tryout. She was placed on the rookie team where Charlie will also swim, so she will get good practice every day and a chance to improve her skills for next summer.

While I Was Away

Image
I went out of town to a conference and Sarah Graves wrote me this sweet note! While I was gone they all did great without me. Aaron took Sarah Graves to a birthday party at a local park and took some cute pictures of Charlie playing.  I had a great time at the conference. I had a chance to see colleagues, attend some great sessions, and have some fun too! As always, I was glad to get home and so grateful for all of them!

Carita Feliz Came to Visit!

Image
Charlie was thrilled to take his turn having Carita Feliz come to visit us for a couple of days! Carina Feliz is the mascot for his Spanish teacher and each kid gets to take Carita Feliz home for a couple of days, do things with Carita Feliz, and fill it out in a journal. He was so pumped for it to be his turn! It was really special that it was Carita Feliz's birthday! He came up with ideas for cute pictures and what he wanted to show Carita Feliz at our house. He had to show his Batman toys! His new Tender Heart bear from Build A Build He staged this himself to show how he sells ice cream! Sarah Graves couldn't resist the chance to join in the fun!

Children's Choir Finale

Image
We celebrated the end of the year for children's choir with children's music Sunday.  I am so proud of Sarah Graves not only for doing a great job during choir performances, but for attending practice each week with a good attitude. Next year she will move up to Grace Choir and I can't wait to see what she does there! After the service, there was a reception. Sarah Graves was hanging out with her friends, but Charlie was up for a picture with Lovie and Pops! Charlie and Olivia love each other so much and were so excited to see each other at church!

Strawberry Picking

Image
We had a fabulous time going to a local farm to pick strawberries and have fun on some of their farm activities!  Strawberry picking went extremely fast as the kids were eager to pick them and there were lots of ripe berries. We were there early, so it was nice to have a lot of area all to ourselves. Charlie had fun playing in this sand box sort of thing filled with corn! The corn was cool and was a neat sensory experience to feel it on your body. We loaded up on a trailer for "Hey" ride. The farmer would throw out bread to bring the cows over. He gave us some to throw too and in my effort to get the bread to the cow, it landed on his nose!  We taught Sarah Graves the difference between hey and hay and she thought it was funny they called it a hey ride! We took a break for some cool drinks at their snack stand. The jumping pillow was a huge hit! The kids loved to play chase and turn flips on it! I might have enjoyed it a little too!
