Fire Safety

Image
While SG and Charlie were out of school for fall break, it was fire safety day at Home Depot. Mom and Jeanne' brought the kids over for the activities. Charlie was really excited to see Homer and Sparky! I think he thought Sparky was Marshsll from Paw Patrol. Who doesn't love a frozen treat from King of Pops! They had the chance to meet a fireman, check out his gear, and see the truck. Charlie was a little in awe! I really enjoyed that bit of time with them and felt so grateful to work for a company that understands the value of letting Ida be a part of what we do!

Fur Baby

Lucy rarely gets to be the center of attention anymore, but on a beautiful fall evening she had her chance. No one else wanted to go for a walk but Lucy was more than eager. We had a great time together. It reminded me of taking her out before the kids came along. She gave me a look and we took off running until we were both panting!  She came home tired and smiling.

Future Acolyte

Image
My future acolyte carried the cross with such pride! She loves to have a turn to carry the flag or cross.

Friday Night Mexican

Image
The kids love going to Rio Bravo because of the tortilla dough to play with and the mariachi band serenading. Moist aches with tortilla dough! Charlie decided to try a taco and now he loves them! But NO lettuce! It came with lettuce and he didn't like so we took it off and he was happy! He now reminds me every time that he doesn't want lettuce. The kids love the Taco Grande song by Weird Al Yankovic, so it seems fitting that Charlie would like a taco!

Fright Fest

Image
We had a fun time at a Corporate Fright Fest event at Six Flags. The weather was misty rain which added to the spooky feel! The crowds were light so it was easy to ride the kid rides and some big coasters! Even Livy got to ride some! Many thanks to my parents and Jeanne' for coming with us and giving us a chance to ride some big rides.

Sissy's Friend

Image
Starting at a new school can be rough, but I am so grateful that Sarah Graves met her sweet friend, Ava. They are not in the same kindergarten class, but meet each other by the tree at recess and their brothers have swim lessons at the same time, so they play then too. I think until you are a mom you don't realize how much mothers worry and wish for their child to feel accepted and included.

Fall Family Fun

Image
We went to Taste of Smyrna, which was a lot of fun! The weather was awesome and the food was yummy! She was feeling as cute as she looked wearing her new boots! My big boy! I love how cute they are walking together! Sweet girl Livy with Lovie

Saturday Nights

Image
It's football season and that means a lot of Saturday nights spent like this! Not quite like being in Tiger Stadium, but still fun to cheer on our Tigers! I love Char in those cute footie pjs!

Hand Check-Up

Image
Charlie recently had a check-up with Dr. Laurie, the hand specialist. We had a little time before the appointment, so He came to the office with me. He was shy at first but warmed up and started talking. Of course, he got a lot of attention! He had a great check-up! There was concern about the angle in the upper part of his finger, but his growth in the last six months has actually made it straighter! We are going to hold off on planning any more surgery and see how he continues to grow! I was so happy to hear that! I am so grateful we found Dr. Laurie and really appreciate his willingness to be patient and see what happens.

Friday Night Skate

Image
After a particularly awesome day at school, we headed to go roller skating. Sissy loved the skating birthday party she went to and had been anxious to try it again. Charlie hadn't been before, but was willing to give it a whirl! They both used the skating walkers and got some good practice. Charlie eventually decided the indoor playground was more for him. Sissy wanted to skate all night, but missed having her friends there with her. All in all, we had a fun time and came home with tired kiddos!

Playing Dress Up

Image
Charlie is really getting into pretend play and he decided to pretend to be his preschool teacher,  Mr. Peter. It is an interesting take on him! I am pretty sure Mr. Peter would really love the sparkly high heels!

Letter Month Thirty-Six

Image
Dear Charlie, First off, sorry that this letter is long over due. You and Sissy keep me and Daddy hopping! You, my precious boy, have been so busy changing from a baby into a boy. It is somewhat surreal to watch it happen before my eyes. I feel privileged to do so. It has been difficult for you and that makes me hurt too. When you began climbing out of your crib on a regular basis, we decided it was time to transition into a toddler bed. You have always struggled with falling asleep and have never mastered doing it on your own. Being able to easily climb in and out of your bed only made it more challenging. Daddy has the most patience to stay with you, rock you, and help you fall asleep. Some nights it takes a couple of hours and is difficult. Napping wasn't any better until Lovie developed the routine of driving you to the "store" until you fell asleep. You picked up on it pretty quickly and decided you don't want to go to the store! Sitting in the carseat gets yo

Letter Month Sixty-Six

Image
Dear Sarah Graves, First off, sorry that this letter is long overdue. You and Charlie keep us busy! Five years old is a wonderful age for you! You have become so much more mature, a lot more easy going, and you are aware of other people's feelings. It is fun to talk with you and hear how you interpret situations and see the world. You like for things to be fair and you are generous. You will share what you have with your brother or a friend and it is sweet to see. In February you took the big step to take classes preparing for your first communion and you made your first communion. You were earnest and sincere about it, which made me feel proud. You also ate the host and dipped it in the chalice, which made me proud because I know how worried you were that you wouldn't like the way it tasted. I can only believe that God was with you as you took it the first time and gave you the courage and conviction to see it through.  You graduated from pre-k, which was a big milestone f

Haircuts and Smiles

Image
Ready for school with a few minutes to spare and I snapped a cute picture of these two. They both had fresh haircuts and were pleased with how they look! Pops takes Charlie to get their haircut together and it is a sweet outing for them. Charlie tells Pops some crazy stories and shares some of his little boy philosophy. After the haircut, Pops takes him for a much anticipated ice cream! Charlie picks superman flavor every time. Sweet memories that I hope Charlie will always have.

Show & Tell

Image
Charlie has show and tell on Fridays. There is a theme for each week and during car/truck week he picked this Reese's candy truck. It was Aaron's when he was little and I thought it was so sweet that he picked the truck that was Daddy's.
