Spring Break at Legoland

Image
Road trip! The Legoland Hotel was a lot of fun! So many cool lego details, a disco elevator, and lots places to build with legos! Charlie was pretty pleased that he could touch in the shallow area and happily swam around! Sarah Graves was anxious to start practicing her swimming skills! A heated pool made for fun times swimming at spring break! Plus, playing with legos in the pool is really cool! Lego chef! These lego creations were placed all around and the kids loved all the detail! So cool to see how they were built out of legos. Too bad they had "the crackle"! A view of the lego skyline during dinner! Playing and building in a huge pit of legos was right up Charlie's alley! He could have done the the whole trip! Sissy enjoyed the legos too! We had a great time exploring the hotel! Fun first day of vacation!

Reading Olympian

Image
With the Winter Olympics happening, the second graders participated in their own reading olympics! The challenge was to read at 1 book from each genre (fantasy, science fiction, biography, autobiography, realistic fiction, etc.). Sometimes it was a challenge to find a book from every genre, but SG managed to!  Reading one book from each genre qualified you for the olympics, then you could medal in a particular genre. SG went after poetry and biography as two genres that she could possibly medal in and she did! She won bronze in biography and gold in poetry! So proud of this girl! What a way to kick off spring break!

Chef Charlie

Image
Charlie is interested in cooking. He doesn't desire to eat a lot, but he does have interest in making it. Recently, he and Aaron picked up a pizza kit. Charlie loves pepperoni pizza, so we were sure he would love it. He loved making it. He beamed with pride for his design with the pepperoni! The eating it part was not such a hit. I think we'll stick with delivery for pizza he will eat!

Spring Blooms

Image
We had some lovely, warm, sunny days that gave us a bit of spring fever. Trees started to bloom and Sarah Graves was eager to pull out her summer things. She and Aaron went out to run errands and she asked him to stop and take her picture with the trees in bloom. She has an eye for beautiful things! Love these pictures of my pretty girl on a beautiful day.

Cookie Sales

Image
We made it through our first Girl Scout cookie season pretty easily. With help from Pops, Sarah Graves sold 200 boxes of cookies! We made videos to ask our friends and family to buy cookies, went door to door in our neighborhood, Pops took her in his neighborhood, and Pops delivered cookies to family in Baton Rouge!  She also worked with girls in her troop to sell more cookies at cookie booths outside stores and restaurants. I'm not sure she is ready to run her own business, but she is proud that she met her goal and really excited about the badges she earned!

Visit with Aunt Lex

Image
We were thrilled for Lex to come visit for a couple days! We had work and school during the day, but worked in a couple of dinners, Mad Libs, karaoke, and she taught the kids to play Choo Choo dominoes! Always fun to have my friend in town!

Valentine's Day

Image
With Valentine's Day the day after Mardi Gras and on Ash Wednesday, we had a low key celebration.  My cutie valentine boy! Sarah Graves was at choir, so we had a fun evening making some special valentine cupcakes. He really enjoyed it! We made these yummy heart shaped valentine's cupcakes to share with Sissy and Daddy. By the time they got in, I forgot to take any pictures, but the cupcakes were a hit! We also exchanged valentines and the kids made sweet ones! So glad to have a day to remind each other how much we're loved.

Mardi Gras!

Image
Sad that we didn't get to go to a parade this year, but we made our own Mardi Gras fun! We got together for dinner and king cake! The kids were in high spirits after decorating with beads everywhere and happily having dinner together. King cake from a local bakery. Charlie found the baby!

Girl Scout Weekend

Image
Sarah Graves' troop got together to make signs to use at their cookie booths. The girls had fun coming up with slogans and designing their posters! They also got together at the art school to earn their pottery badge. This was right up Sarah Graves' alley! They made a pendant that they put on a cord, a Valentine's pin, and molded an animal.

Fun Breakfast

Image
We have had such a rainy couple of months, but decided to brighten up a Saturday with breakfast from IHOP. The kids love breakfast and we had a great time going out for pancakes.

Game Boy

Image
Charlie loves to play games, especially when he wins! I love when he discovers a new game and proclaims how awesome he is! He says, "I just leveled up, I'm so awesome at this game!" He recently learned how to play games on the laptop. He loves playing Candy Crush on it! Of course, he started at the beginning levels and was so totally awesome!

Sweetheart Ball

Image
Sarah Graves really looks forward to the Daddy Daughter Dance. She picked out her dress several months in advance and Charlie picked out some cute accessories for her. The event was a little more complicated this year because she also had a masquerade ball for cotillion! My social butterfly was up for all of it! I see her in these pictures and it's hard to believe this my eight year old baby! She looks so pretty and so grown up! The parents put in so much work to make this a special night! The beautiful invite starts the excitement, then there are plans for dinner with friends and their dads, and finally the dance itself. There are crafts, snacks, and a fun deejay to make it a special night. She had a fun night with daddy!
