Haunted Cookie House

Image
Our trip to the Halloween store showed us that we were missing out on something - a haunted cookie house to decorate! The kids were so pumped to do it! Sarah Graves even came home and did her homework right after school so they could make it that evening. These two worked as such a good team! They made a plan, took turns, and made it such a fun experience. I'm not sure why it was necessary to dress as a railroad conductor while decorating the house, but he sure was cute! This pretty girl was quite pleased with how it turned out!

Sunday Funday

Image
We had a fun Sunday afternoon! After church Charlie went over to Miles' house for a playdate. These silly boys are such good pals. There was a meet up for pre-k at the park and Sarah Graves was delighted to find Mallory there! After the park we headed out for a fun family dinner! I think everybody was in the mood for a little silliness! Push ups were a yummy treat with dinner! After dinner Sarah Graves asked if we could get a wig for her Halloween costume. More silliness there!

Student of the Week

Image
Charlie was student of the week. I feel bad I forgot to take pictures of him with his poster, but did get a picture of the poster. He really took pride in doing this his way. He had a vision for it and no amount of prodding from us would change his mind! That definitely describes Charlie - he has his own ideas and does not back down from what he wants.

Fun Day at Six Flags!

Image
We took the kids to breakfast at Burger King before we headed to Charlie's soccer game.  Charlie and Livy crack each other up! Our crew put on a dance show! After soccer, we headed to Six Flags to kick off Fright Fest! Wonder Woman continues to be a hit! Of course, Harley Quinn is still Charlie's very favorite! Sissy is such a big girl and rode Wonder Woman on her own! Superhero POW! Big girl loves helping with Livy. She took her to the restroom and it was funny overhearing Olivia commenting on how Sissy has boobies, her mommy has boobies, she has boobies! Protected by our superheroes!  Little pumpkins! She was really pumped to get her horse! Charlie said he already knew how to drive a boat because Pops taught him! It was a hot day and lots of crowds, but we had a fun time being in the park after not being there most of the summer. The kids were intrigued by all the Halloween decorations. The clowns

Fashionistas

Image
Second grade earned a free dress day while they learned about government and the house and senate passed a bill to give a free dress day. The head of school approved it and everyone was thrilled! My fashion loving girl was pumped to show off her style at school! Charlie had hat day in his class and decided to show his love of the Atlanta Braves! Love these cuties! Excited kids make for easy mornings!

IHOP Charlie

Image
Charlie really enjoys his IHOP! He can polish off a create a face pancake with ease!  Mom took him on a Wednesday after his gymnastics class. They had fun playing a round of crazy 8's before their food came. When his food came, he ate every bite, used the restroom to wash his hands, then passed out in the booth! I guess a good meal was all he needed! Aaron took him a couple days later and although he ate his food with gusto, he didn't pass out in the restaurant!

Carpool Fun

Image
Some mornings we make it to carpool with time to relax and everyone is in a good mood so that we can cut up before school. Those are good mornings!

Out and About

Image
we spent a beautiful Saturday running errands and shuttling kids to birthday parties. One of our stops was to get Sarah Graves her brownie vest and troop badges! She was super excited when that purchase came with a fun brownie, emoji themed backpack!

Halloween Bulletin Board

Image
We were the decorators for Charlie's class bulletin board for October and wanted to do a Halloween theme. It was a family effort to get the job done. Charlie picked out the design and some of the details and Aaron and Sarah Graves helped me bring it to life. Pre-K IS Spooktacular! It took us longer than we expected to get it done and we ended up missing church all together! Oops! At least our bulletin board looked great! Sissy and I were ready for church a minute early and feeling like we looked quite nice, we grabbed a selfie!

Little Things

Image
Sometimes I worry that their childhoods are flying by and I'm not soaking in all the little things that won't always be.  She makes sweet drawings and writes who they are for. She always asks if I like it with this look of hope in her eyes. I hope that I always take the time to answer her in a way that keeps that hope alive. On mornings when things have gone smoothly they have a little time to play. Sometimes they choose to play family and I'm asked to babysit their children while they go to school. I can still remember babysitting Kate at work while Sarah Graves was in preschool at Little Apron. I pray that the days of loving dolls so much they seem real will go on a while longer. There are millions of other little things that I hope to carry with me throughout my days. Some of the biggest are how it feels for Charlie to slip his hand inside mine while we walk. It's a sturdy hand that grabs on to mine and never has to be asked. I think that's what mak

Gymnast

Image
Gymnastics continue to be Sarah Graves' favorite activity. She actually complained at the start that it didn't feel as difficult as she thought it should. I talked to her coach and she changed some things up that seem to have made it more challenging.

Sissy Daddy Time

Image
On Wednesdays Sarah Graves has choir at 6 o'clock, so Aaron picks her up from school and they have some time together. They usually go to QT for a snack, then work on school work. I think they both enjoy their one-on-one time together.

Piano

Image
When I was in second grade, my grandparents bought a piano for me and Jeanne' to learn to play. I took lessons for nearly ten years. While I have no natural talent, I learned a lot about music theory, how to continue on even when you make a mistake, and what persistence can do. Ma Maw played the piano beautifully and one time told me about how she so badly wanted lessons. Her dad found a way to give her the chance and she learned all she could.  I have suggested piano lessons to Sarah Graves several times, but this year she agreed to try it. It is not her favorite activity, but she practices and I hope one day she will look back and appreciate the opportunity she was given. I know she has grandparents looking down feeling proud and cheering her on.

Getting His Kicks

Image
During Charlie's second soccer game he had the idea to block the goal to stop the other team from scoring! He would see them with the ball and head for the goal to defend it! He stopped a couple of scores that way.

Junior Catillion

Image
Sarah Graves joined Junior Catillion this fall and has been having fun! They learn to dance - Cupid Shuffle or Electric Slide, anyone? They learn table manners and they also learn how to interact socially such as shake a hand, introduce a friend, and start conversation. All great skills for my social girl. Plus, it is so cute to see the kids all dolled up in their finest!

Hurricane Party

Image
My Uncle Gene and his roommate, Gary came up from the Miami area to get out of the path of hurricane Irma. Fortunately, their place had no damage and itt gave us a nice chance to visit. Mom made a delicious gumbo for us! It was a huge pot and hardly any was left. So good! It has been several years since Uncle Gene came to visit. It was nice to see him. Uncle Gene helped continue our homeschooling experience by working with Sarah Graves on spelling and reading. Gary was so kind and bought the kids treats from a yummy bakery. He had their full attention with that! Charlie is generally a little shy, but when I dropped the kids off (school was cancelled again due to Irma), Gary was up and Charlie just chatted him up about all sorts of things.  Who can resist a doughnut man! While we were all together, it was a great opportunity to celebrate Jeanne's birthday. The kids and I made her a pound cake and mom made a razzleberry pie! So much good stuff!

Dinner and Follies

Image
We had a fun Friday night dinner at Lovie and Pops'! We enjoyed some yummy Italian food and watched the kids act silly! Charlie put this costume on to do a magic show! After tumbling and performing gymnastics, they looked pretty cute together!
