Kicking Off Summer!

Image
We kicked off summer spending Memorial Day weekend at the lake! We hadn't been since Thanksgiving and it was so good to go back ! We started with a sunset cruise! Sissy had a lesson in boat driving. It was a gorgeous sunset!

School's Out!

Image
The last day of school was relaxed and fun for the kids. The promise of a break from folders, spelling tests, and math practice had me feeling light and relaxed!      Some silly fun for our last trip through carpool line for this school year!   We enjoyed dinner and a trip to the ice cream shop with Lovie!  Hello summer! We are ready!

Last Day of School

Image
All too soon the last day of school came. Charlie seemed indifferent to it and Sarah Graves was very sad to leave first grade and her beloved teacher, Ms. Muller.  I am always a little sad to be reminded of how quickly this time is flying by and they are getting so much older. Then again, summer brings a more relaxed schedule and a break from working on spelling, spanish, and math in the evenings!

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Image
The new Braves stadium opened super close to us and it was fun to go to a game! We went with my team from work and it was the kids' first Braves game ever. They were really excited about it and I was pleased that they were into it.     The stadium is close to Home Depot's office, so they offer a convenient shuttle for employees. The kids liked riding the bus!   They were so excited to be there and there was a lot of excitement with a brass band playing, activities for kids, and lots of pregame fun.      After trying out some games, winning prizes, and riding the zip line, they were ready for snacks!       Charlie quickly got sleepy after he ate. He curled up in his seat and went sound to sleep before the game even started! He is a sweet boy.    Sissy enjoyed all the activities during the game, especially the tomahawk chop! She was sad that we left early, but they had their last day of school the next day. I expect we will be back for another game!

Feeling Crafty

Image
I was feeling crafty one evening and let the kids do a project using coffee filters dipped in dye to make a cute 3-dimensional flower. Sarah Graves was totally into the project! Charlie was interested in the dye part, but not the flower part!  They decided that they should take their shirts off so they didn't get dye on anything! When we ran out of coffee filters to dye, they started using paper towels to make fun designs! Sarah Graves loves to use the glue gun! She cut a small cup, then layer by layer glued the trimmed coffee filters to make a flower. She very proudly made flowers to decorate her teachers' gifts and for a friend's birthday!

Breakfast with SG

Image
We don't often have the chance for a breakfast date before school, but when Aaron took Charlie to doughnuts for dudes, we took the opportunity! We hit First Watch and had a great time chatting and enjoying our breakfast! It was fun having time with just Sissy and hearing about her friends and the end of school.

First Grade Fun

Image
To mark the end of the school year, first grade had a popsicles and pajamas party! It was a fun time outside hanging out with friends.   Sarah Graves has adored Ms. Muller and Ms. Parks! They created a place where she has felt safe and confident. Because of that she has had a great school year and learned so much!   Love these silly friends!   Hanging out with friends.   Her first grade class!   SG and Caroline! Good buddies

2017 Gym Show

Image
Sarah Graves had her end of year gymnastics recital. She was a little nervous when we arrived, but quickly got excited and did an awesome job! A little makeup and her new leotard made her excited and glamorous! The theme for the gym show was Flip in the Name of Love. Super cute with all the hearts and love! She did a good job with her routine proudly showing off her cartwheel, handstand, and even tried her back walkover! I was so proud of her for being 1 of the 2 girls in the class to try the back walkover. Her friend Mallory takes gymnastics on a different day, but also performed during the recital. Fun to see school friends out. Love this girl and how hard she continues to work to improve her skills!

Cooking Club

Image
Charlie really enjoyed Spanish cooking club this spring. He is so funny and now tells me things are, "mucho client!" He has picked up some other vocabulary too which is fun to see. He enjoys the treats they make, too!
