School is Out!

Image
To add to the excitement of the end of the year, the kids had a free dress day! That is major excitement for Sarah Graves! Last morning in carpool. I get a little weepy thinking about how fast the time is going and they are ready to hop out and get their day over with! Since it was a half day, I joined them along with Lovie and Livy for lunch to celebrate the start of summer! Chipotle and Chick Fil A made for happy kids! After lunch they headed on to the lake to really kickoff summer! Here is hoping that as Chaplain Porter Cade has said our summer provides time for recreation as well as re-creation of ourselves.

Field Day and Awards

Image
These two were so excited for field day! This was the first official field day and I think they had a ball! There were lots of games like Ga Ga Ball as well as face painting and slushies! Kindergarten also had a little awards ceremony and their end of the year party. Not sure they realize it, but it was their last real school class party! Charlie's class with their teachers. My cutie boy! Receiving his Super Speller award! He was very proud of his award and part of it was because he was the only one to get that award. Some of the awards were given to two or three kids, but the spelling award was all his.  Happy time with his buddies! I have been so pleased that he made new friends and gets along well with the other kids.  Charlie ate and ate during the party! I asked him if the food was his favorite part and he looked up at me and said no. I asked what was his favorite part and he said the people that come to the party with a sly smile! He can be

Last Official Day

Image
The end of the school year brought about some fun activities. The last official day of school included the last day for uniforms and the official proclamation of moving up to the next grade level during chapel.  Charlie has had a stellar year in Kindergarten! He has gained so much confidence, made new friends, physically grew so much, learned to read, and blossomed into a leader in the classroom. His teacher even nicknamed him the mayor of kindergarten! Sarah Graves has also had a rockin' year in third grade! She has grown so much taller, learned to multiply and divide, knows about the continents and the 50 states, has excellent reading comprehension, is a good friend, and has the confidence to standup for what she believes. Her teachers adore her and remark at how she mothers the other kids, particularly the boys who are not as mature! I am always sad to see another school year pass, but I always feel so proud to think about all they learned and the great pe

Chocolatier

Image
Sarah Graves and Aaron spent a fun afternoon visiting a chocolatier! They got to make some yummy treats and eat them too! This was her last activity as a Brownie and it sure was a sweet way to end the year!  She also received her prizes from cookie sales and the thrill she got from getting those wipey boards, trinket boxes, and more badges! She can't wait to bridge to Juniors.

Sundae Sunday!

Image
It is the tradition at church that the Sunday school year ends with Sundae Sunday! Who wouldn't want an ice cream sundae at 9 in the morning! Well, at least there is fruit! The kids were tickled pink that we got to help setup for the event! I am still surprised when Charlie writes something. He wrote this sentence, "This is a hip hop day!" on the paper tablecloth at the event. He is a silly guy!

Saturday at Six Flags

Image
The weeks of rain finally came to an end and we spent a sunny, hot Saturday at Six Flags! The mornings wasn't crowded and we were able to ride a lot very quickly Three rides in a row on Mind Bender put everyone in a good mood! Charlie was excited that he was able to ride Blue Hawk and Twisted Cyclone! He is a little less than the required 48 inches and is so cute when he quickly sits down hoping they won't measure him and gives a conspiratorial grin when the final checks are complete! Charlie so enjoys this playground area. It makes up for the rides he is not tall enough for. We had the longest tide on Harley Quinn! So twisty and so much fun for a long ride! Pleased they can ride together on Joker Coaster. Sissy continues to be happy that she is tall enough for Batman! Ready to go up like Superman.

My Pal Sal

Image
For dress like a Superkid day Charlie chose to dress like Sal. Sal's characteristic outfit has the star on his shirt.  Charlie was proud to help Lovie make his star shirt. With some of his buddies. Charlie and his dear buddy, Nico!    Had to add in his Sal twin, Drew. Charlie with his buddy, Ziggy Proudly parading through the school! Charlie takes school so seriously and I never know if he likes having me drop in. I asked if he wanted me to go, but he said no he liked for me to be there. High praise from my buddy.

Gym Show

Image
As we wrap up the end of the school year, activities come to a close and it was time for gym show. Sarah Graves was in level 3 and Charlie in level 1 at Buckhead Gymnastics. The kids did a great job! They went through their routine on each apparatus and received their award! We went for a celebratory dinner at IHOP! That's how it goes when you let the kids pick!
