Baptism Part Three - Reception

After the baptism we came back to my Maw Maw Bourgeois' house for a reception.  I am so thankful to my family for helping me put together an event for my baby girl.  Both of my grandmothers worked to get things ready before we came to Baton Rouge; my cousin Eric put me in touch with a caterer for the food; and my Mom, Dad, and Jeanne' all helped me the day of the baptism to get everything else ready.  The dips, pastalaya, salad, and cake were very tasty. 


It was a lot of fun to be able to come back to the house and visit with everyone. Sarah Graves was like an angel and enjoyed all the attention and people holding her. We tried to get pictures with her and as many members of her family as we could. It's events like this that make me appreciate having a big, loving family.

I wanted something to give to everyone to remember the day and Mom found this idea for a wrapper for a Hershey bar, so I made them.  I think they looked pretty sweet!

OMGoodness -- these pics are GREAT. My favorite part was the fact that I got to sneak some special time with little sweet pea that morning -- while all the adults were running like buzy bees I got to hold and cuddle with Sarah Graves.....she is truly a treasure from heaven!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
