Getting Ready for School

The week before school was spent getting caught up on appointments. I took SG to the eye doctor and for a physical.
Dr. Lee is a little concerned that she is needing more correction for her vision than she did last year and she can't quite get 20/20. As someone who has never had 20/20 vision, I'm sure she still sees pretty well, but I want her to have the best vision possible. We are trying new glasses and will re-evaluate in 3 months. 

She was nervous to go for her physical. She worried about getting a shot and I can understand that. She was great on blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight. 

Sissy is growing just great! She is 48 inches tall (75th percentile) and weighs 47 pounds, 6 ounces (52nd percentile).

The doctor did a finger stick to check her blood glucose levels and she also got a Hepatitis B shot. SG was a champ for both of those needle sticks. Her blood sugar levels came back a little high, so in a couple of weeks we will do a fasting blood sugar test and see how it looks then.

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
