Weekend of Fun

We came in from the basketball game and the kids were ready to get to gingerbread houses! It has become a tradition to decorate them with Grancy and Gramma and they were eager to do it. They have become so independent that they pretty much do it themselves, but like having the support.










Charlie patiently worked on his for a long time doing little details. He thought it was hilarious to get the gingerbread man to sit on the roof!

After gingerbread houses, we moved on to opening gifts! The kids were so excited and received so many nice new things! Charlie is loving his new watch and boots and Sarah Graves is having a ball with an art set and looking forward to using a new sleeping bag! Aunt Barbara and Uncle Les sent cozy fleece pullovers and pants that will be perfect for cold winter days!







We spent more time watching Christmas movies before we headed out to see the new Star Wars movie and enjoy dinner in the theater! Such a fun day!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
