Lake Life

Last fall Lovie and Pops started on a journey to build a new lake house not far from the first one. We watched the construction process with anticipation as the house took shape and Lovie and Pops worked really hard to make decisions to design and select finishes for the new house. As spring went on the house was closer and closer, but the final phase of building took a long time to complete. Finally, by July 4th we were able to go and enjoy the house. The property is beautiful and the house kept the best parts of the first and includes some awesome additions. 
We have now spent several fun weekends at the new lake house and it gets better each time!

The kids are in love with the golf cart! They all three drive it! Sarah Graves and Charlie are able to steer and work the pedals completely on their own and fancy themselves ready to take the highway!

Evenings spent sitting by the fire and enjoying each other's company while we watch the night sky are what lake life is really about. 

Pops has taught Charlie a lot about building a fire. Charlie might be a little bit of a pyromaniac now!

He had a great time cooking his hot dog over the fire! He was quite proud!

These two are so funny together. They love to be together but bicker like old married people. 

Nay and the kids have had a ball riding the jet ski.

We made time for sunset cruise!




We have also had a lot of fun swimming, sliding, and jumping off the dock!








The slide is totally awesome! Forward, backward, and every way!

The kids have been enjoying putting on shows and concerts for us! Nothing like a microphone to create a lot of fun.

One of the big additions was another bathroom that is more for the kids. How cute are they all lined up brushing their teeth!

Can't wait to have a lot more fun times in this new house!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
