First Day of School

Just like that, summer came to an end and it was time for Sarah Graves to head to third grade and Charlie to start kindergarten! They were both excited. Charlie was really pumped until the morning of when he got a little nervous. Once I explained that we would walk him to his classroom, he was good to go and ready to take on the day!

Backpacks and lunch boxes ready to go! Sarah Graves was really excited to have a rolling backpack and Charlie was very pleased with his Harry Potter themed things!







Charlie is in Ms. Freeman's class and she is wonderful! Charlie is excited to have drama, art, sacred stories, and P.E. this year! He is also liking the idea of eating lunch in the parish hall.

Sarah Graves is in Ms. Blair's class and says she really likes her a lot but she is strict!  Sarah Graves is very excited to learn cursive this year; that they have sketch pads to use when they have free time; and they have a classroom economy with wallets to keep their money! 

We had a great morning dropping them off and felt good leaving them in this familiar place where they are treated with a lot of kindness.

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
