We Have Glasses!

When we went to the eye doctor a few months ago, he told us to come back if we noticed her eye crossing.  Well, last week her teacher mentioned that her left eye had crossed a couple of times while she was doing a worksheet.  I did some things at home to see what happened and she complained that her eyes hurt.  We headed back to the eye doctor today and he agreed that her vision in her left eye is definitely worse than her right and she favors the right eye.  The suggestion was to wear glasses as much as we can for the next several months and recheck her to see if it improves.  
I started wearing glasses when I was a baby, so getting glasses is nothing new to me.  However, getting my preschooler to try them on is a bit of a different story.  She quickly decided she didn't want glasses and wasn't enthused about trying them on.  This was made more challenging by the fact that they just don't make many frames in her size.  Our eye doctor didn't have any her size and we went to three other stores before we found some that we liked.  Mom was with me, thank goodness, and I think she enjoyed watching me go through some of the same trials that she went through with me!  
SG's desire was for green glasses since her favorite color is green.  Unfortunately, they don't make many frames in green and the ones they had were mostly boy glasses.  Most of what we found was pink, purple, and neutral colors.  I went for fit and something that looked like a little girl and we found just the right pink ones!  
She is concerned about what her friends will think of her glasses.  I didn't realize the self conscious stuff started so early, but here we are.  The adults she has seen with them on have all been so positive and tell her how cute they look.  I sure hope her friends have similar reactions tomorrow!  We think she looks precious in everything and Charlie can't wait to get his hands (or mouth) on them!
It too us all day to get these glasses and now I'm pooped!

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
