Letter Month Seven

Dear Charlie,
I can't believe that seven months have passed since the magical day that we saw you for the first time.  It feels like a very short time ago and yet I can't remember details of our daily life without you in it.  You are still small, but you have a big presence in our family.  Your smiles and your coos fill our lives with joy
This month you have become a scooter!  You are quite quick with your modified crawl and seem to have little interest in learning to crawl on your hands and knees.  You will see an object across the room and take off for it!  Now your sister is really experiencing some of the joy of a little brother who can access her toys, coloring pages, and books!  Don't worry.  She loves you immensely and I don't expect a few chewed up pages will change that.  Grabbing her hair the way you do may be a different story, though!  I think you do that just to remind her to pay attention to you.  You love to watch her and look at her with amazement.
You are quite the talker!  Your favorite sound is, "aaah" and you enjoy a nice game of going back and forth making that sound in different tones.  You also smack your lips and make a"mmm" sound, but you don't have ma ma down yet.  A few weeks ago we thought you were losing interest in the paci, but you have now developed the skill to take it out of your mouth and more consistently put it back in when you are awake.  You seem to enjoy this independence and will at times hold it in your fist while you play.
Sleep is still a tough area for you.  You are doing better with falling asleep in the evenings, mostly.  Staying asleep is still a challenge.  There have been a few times where you stay asleep for a few hours, but there are still a lot of evenings where you wake up after only thirty minutes or so.  You usually come into our bed when you wake up after we have gone to sleep.  You still like to sleep snuggled up to someone and enjoy nursing at will during the night.   It's tiresome for your dad and me, but there is something comforting about touching you during the night and knowing you are okay.
We have continued to slowly introduce solid foods to you.  You seem to enjoy the rice and oat cereal as well as avocado.  I don't think you care much for apple sauce or banana.  We will continue to offer them, but you make a face that doesn't look as though you like them!  You only take a few bites at a time, even of the foods that you like.  When we have food around you, you definitely think it should be for you!  I have nearly lost whole slices of pizza to your eager hands!  You have a sippy cup with a soft spout that you really enjoy.  You drink water out of it and you give me this look that says you really appreciate a drink of water.
You have been attending Music Together classes since before you were born, but we have noticed that you really enjoy it now.  Now that you can sit and hold objects, okay so you more often chew on them, you seem so much more into it.  You bob your head and watch everyone else in utter amazement.  I am excited for the next session to start to be able to watch you grow and interact with the songs more!
You have a sweet way about you that everyone notices.  You look at us with your big, dark eyes and you show such love.  I hope that you are reflecting back to us the love that you feel.  We love you deeply and are so glad that you joined our family.  We are all richer for it.
Love,
Momma
