Dog Beach Birthday Party!

Now do you see why cookies shaped like a dog bone were a must have?  The theme of the party was dog beach!  My colleague, David's, little boy Boyd turned three this weekend and SG was invited to his party.  The other kids may have been a little older, but she was undaunted!  SG didn't hesitate to climb on this large, inflatable dog!
 

They turned their backyard into a toddler dream complete with multiple baby pools, a beach made of 1600 pounds of sand, and their big pool.  The beach was Sarah Graves' favorite part and she spent most of her time there happily digging and shoveling sand. 


There were shark hats for the little kids and doggie hats for the bigger kids.  I couldn't believe she wore hers for a while.  Now she is ready for a Jimmy Buffett concert!

She had a great time at the party!  She was sandy and tired when we left and took a little nap in the car.

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
