Sun and Fun

We had gorgeous weather! It was sunny, low humidity, and a nice breeze!
So nice to enjoy breakfast out on the deck!


We needed our energy to get to sand castle building!
Jeanne' got them all focused and in no time we had a great castle!



We got into the groove of afternoon rest time which was really nice! The kids could watch TV, play on their iPads, read (heaven forbid) or as Sarah Graves was happy to do, take a nap! The parents enjoyed the down time and took some naps ourselves!

We played some games. Here they are playing Ticket to Ride, which Charlie feels very confident about!

Dinner was at McGuire's. We figured that was a safe option with Jeanne's new found shellfish allergy and it proved a good choice! 
Sarah Graves ordered the soft pretzel and it was mammoth!

Charlie made a little Irish boat with his potato!


Happy girl loved her burger!


Everybody was all smiles!

After dinner we headed for our beach tradition of playing mini golf!





The kids did great! They were a little competitive, but no one wa upset that Aaron won. Livy lost her ball early in the game, but she was okay with borrowing someone else's ball, so we played on! Yay for being resilient and having fun!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
