Getting Ready for School

With just a couple of days before the first day of school, we had a lot to do to be ready. In between meetings for work we worked in a lot!
Charlie had a great check up from Dr. Sarah. She said the his weight and height are on a great growth curve and he has thinned out the way he should have at this age. His vision screen was good and he really liked the doctor. I think he wanted to hug her at the end, but gave her a high five! He was angry to get a shot, but at least it was only 1!

Sissy also had a good check up. She is growing well and now that she is able to swallow a pill, we were able to try a different medicine that hopefully she won't complain about taking (wishful on my part!). She was very brave and took her one shot, chicken pocks. 

A little later we headed to see Dr. Lee and check out SG's vision. Her vision has improved a little and her eyes are in good health. She hung in there as Dr. Lee made adjustments to her prescription and dilated her eyes. 


As a reward for their patience, we went for an ice cream treat!


After picking out Sissy's new glasses, we went to get their hair trimmed so they would be all set for school!

Phew! We accomplished a lot in one day! I had lots of calls and emails to get through coming back from vacation and the kids were really patient with me. Somehow we managed to work it all in!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
