Baton Rouge Visit

We made a weekend trip to Baton Rouge for a family friend's wedding. It also gave us an opportunity to visit with several friends and family. We had a great time going to favorite restaurants and visiting with favorite people! 
We arrived on Aaron's birthday and friends Alexis and Tim were so kind to come down from Alexandria to meet us for dinner. The food and the company were perfect!
After months of staying close to home, it felt good to get dressed up and out for an evening!

Grandaddy and MiMi brought the kids down so they could go home with us. They really enjoyed their Shreveport visit. 

We worked in a visit to LSU to see Mike the Tiger and Aaron was able to have a physically distanced visit with his friend, Dustin. 






We love seeing Mike!


We had to stop by Coffee Call for beignets!

Just before heading home, we stopped at Lynsey and Daniel's to let these sweet cousins play together! 




I love that summers can be spent getting to know family that are farther away. I hope one day they will be close with cousins and remember these visits fondly.

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
