First Day of Pre-K!

Sarah Graves has been waiting a long time for Pre-K and the day finally came on Monday!  In many ways it was just like any other day going to school, but we made a big deal out of it.  Saturday she got some new purple glasses that she is very proud of.  She had her Pre-K Princess shirt to wear from Lovie and we made her favorite dinner, pancakes, as a celebration for the first day.  She also picked out a new backpack during a recent visit to a Vera Bradley store.  She really is my daughter!

She really likes her teacher, Ms. Marlene.  Ms. Marlene was also her teacher when she was two, and we were so excited to have her again.  Her class has some familiar faces and some new ones.  None of her close friends are in her class, so it is a good opportunity to meet some new friends.
Pre-K seems heavily focused on getting them ready to be in formal school and ready to read and write.  They have journals and work on reading and reading comprehension several times a day.  She still does Spanish and music as a part of school, too.
I thought I would feel sad about her starting pre-k and reaching this symbol of her maturity, but she is so excited and proud that I can't feel anything but that for her.
