Birthday Parties!

Right before Easter Sarah Graves went to her first kid birthday party.  This party was for a friend, Evan, who was turning 3.  Evan really likes trains, so he had a train at his party.  SG wasn't feeling so hot that day, so everything was just okay to her, but we had a fun time at the party. 


It was a beautiful day and the train was a big hit.  The driver let Evan drive the train and he took everyone on rides around their neighborhood. 
Plus, birthday parties mean cake, and that excited Sarah Graves a lot!

Last Sunday we went to another party for her friend, Allison.  This was Allison's first birthday and Sarah Graves had a ball. 
We wanted a picture of Sarah Graves and Allison together playing, but toddlers don't really play together so much and they definitely don't take cues to pose together. 

Allison had balloons and that was a thrill for Sarah Graves.


Sarah Graves has met Greg at church before, but they really hit it off at the party.  He's just a few months older and they were doing a lot of the same things, which meant FUN.

Sarah Graves had so much fun!  She loves other kids and there were several her age that she could run around and "play" with even though each was in his or her own little world.  I think it's so funny that at this age they just don't know how to interact and actually play together.  It's just doing their own thing alongside another baby.

Kid birthday parties are something that we will really look forward to.

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
