Adventures with Pops

A couple of weeks ago my Mom had a doctor's appointment, so Pops stayed home with Sarah Graves.  When Mom came home she found Sarah Graves happy in her swing, then she noticed that she was wrapped in a towel.  She asked Pops what was with the towel and he started laughing.  It seems that Sarah Graves had a very messy diaper and when Pops took it off, he couldn't find where Mom keeps the diapers.  He looked and looked and finally decided that he would place a few washcloths between her legs.  Then he realized that they weren't going to stay, so he put his swaddling skills to use and swaddled her in a bath towel.  She was happy enough with it!  Sarah Graves will soon learn that staying with Pops is definitely an adventure.  Let's just hope she doesn't ask him to give her a perm...

OMGoodness -- this is sooooo funny!!! I am sooo glad you captured this in the blog. She will get the biggest kick out of reading it when she is older!! How adorable!! That Pops!!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
