Big Surprise!

A while back, the kids mentioned that they would love to be surprised with the announcement that we are going to Disney! I have also seen those videos and the fun reactions as kids learn not only are they going to Disney, but they are going now! I could see the appeal in such a surprise, but as a mom, also knew how hard it is to pull off such a surprise! 
Aaron and I agreed to keep the trip a surprise (for more than 6 months!), but wanted to tell the kids with a little time so they could help pack their bags. They are quite particular about their look these days and I wanted to make sure everyone was set for a fun time!
As the week leading up to spring break went on, Sarah Graves was getting a little envious that friends were going to various places or planning different activities for the week off of school. Not only did she not have plans to travel, but Aaron and I were keeping the farce that we would be working all week and would try to do something with them in the evening!
We told them the news when they got out of school for spring break! I was beside myself with excitement to tell them! Their reaction was precious! You can see it in this video. 




I was so pleased that we pulled off such a surprise and so excited that they were happy and grateful! When you are a parent, you never know if their reaction to things will be as you envisioned or something completely different! This one was everything I hoped it could be!

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
