Kick Off to Summer

Our first weekend back at the lake was Memorial Day weekend. The kids were out of school and we were ready to enjoy the start of our summer.  The weather was quite cool for late May and so nice to be outside!
We got archery and BB gun target practice up and going! 



Everybody took turns working on their shot!






Charlie and Livy worked on making a movie that featured a scene where they climbed up the rock wall. The bungee cord as a safety harness is still so cute!

We played a fun game of dominoes.

Charlie is a pretty good opponent!

We organized some field games too!

Three-legged race!



Jeanne' proved to be a fierce opponent!





The girls were pleased to have matching life jackets.








Fun to get in the water and have a fun time enjoying all the lake toys!

We took some time to remember those who gave their life for our country - the real reason for the holiday.



It felt so good to finally get back to this place we love and have fun together!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
