Halloween with the Force

We were very uncertain what Halloween would e like this year. We weren't sure about trick or treating and knew that gatherings would be very limited. Through it all, we managed to enjoy our Halloween traditions and had a great time doing it!

We carved pumpkins.

No one enjoys dining out the pumpkin guts! It was made better doing it while watching Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin.




Charlie picked a Minecraft face, of course. 


I chose a typical jack-o-lantern face

Sissy chose to carve Cinderella. It was difficult, but she took her time and did a good job.

We also watched The Nightmare Before Christmas for the first time and finally learned about Jack Skellington!

For the first time, we headed back to Six Flags for Fright Fest and had a wonderful time!

We were so busy riding that I didn't take many pictures! There were no lines and it felt so good to be out and doing one of our favorite things! My favorite moment was riding Goliath with Jeanne' right after they got it fixed! Only a sister would get on that big one right after it got stuck at the top!

There was no Fun Run this year and the trunk-or-treat looked very different, but we did get the chance to show off our costumes at the school costume contest and we won first prize! I think it was Lucy as The Child that put us over the top!

Our Star Wars ensemble was made complete with Jeanne' as Darth Vader and Livy as Yoda!





The kids were excited to make some of our favorite Halloween treats for our small party before trick-or-treating!









The kids had a blast trick-or-treating! We found many houses coming up with creative ways to trick-or-treat. We are so glad the kids could have this experience trick-or-treating this year. 



The joy of looking at all that candy! They said it was their best year yet!

Childhood passes so quickly. There are a limited number of years for activities like trick-or-treating. I am so glad that these kids could enjoy and had a wonderful time! In their minds this was the best Halloween ever!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
