Hand Update

We went for a postoperative appointment to see how Charlie's hand is healing and all looks excellent.  He was a complete doll throughout the experience!  They removed his old cast and checked that the incisions are healing as well as took an x-ray to be sure the bone is healing.  It must have felt good to have it off because he never stopped wiggling his fingers!  He was very curious about the incisions and wanted to check those out!

The markings on his wrist are the surgeon's initials from the day of the surgery.

The line on the image is the pin buried under the skin.


He had a new cast put on, which I was nervous about.  He sat in my lap and never moved once.  I was amazed!  He has quickly learned to maneuver with the cast on, so I guess it didn't seem terrible to him.  His new cast is open on the end, so at least his fingers get some air.  We will have to get Sissy and Pops to sign this new one!
He was friendly to everyone and they agreed he is the best patient.  
We go back in a month to see how he is and should have the small surgery to remove the pin the next day.

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
