Shots for Charlie

Aaron was out of town last week and I am just now recovering! My hat is off to the moms who work and care for kids on their own. Both kids missed daddy A LOT and had a hard time without him. He is back now and I am getting caught up.


Charlie got his 7 month old shots last week - prevnar and HIB. He was a champ and fussed just a little.  We are slowly but surely getting caught up.  We won't be caught up by his 12 month appointment, but we will get there!
I had a few other questions about little things.  It turns out my instinct was correct and eat rubbing is just a sign that he is tired and not because his ears hurt! He weighs 23 pounds now, but we didn't get all his stats since this was just for shots. I also asked the doctor about his spitting up after he nurses and he said he is a happy spitter since he isn't bothered by it and does it more as he gets older. Likely the muscle at his esophagus and stomach isn't strong enough to close off when he finishes eating. He said it should stop by the time he is 18 months. Good for us to know.  We'll keep the burp cloths handy for a bit longer.

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
