July 4th Holiday

 When we thought about July 4th, we envisioned grilling hotdogs, an afternoon at the pool, and going to watch fireworks.  Then, we saw the weather forecast and thought we ought to have a different plan.  I has rained here for the past 5 days straight and we have thought we ought to find Noah and get our ticket for the ark!

The flags were a big hit with them!

Yes, our picnic blanket is in fact a splat mat for arts and crafts.  When SG has a pretend picnic or beach trip, she uses this as the blanket.  So, it was only normal to grab it for our picnic in the basement!  We had our picnic while Charlie was napping, which was probably good since we learned on subsequent picnics that he takes real offense to being on the floor with all sorts of things in arm's reach and not being able to have them!

We opted for an indoor picnic complete with homemade cupcakes that SG helped bake, iced herself, and decorated them!  You have never seen the kind of care that she put into getting the sprinkles on the cupcake.  We had pink sprinkles for July 4th!  She had a great time doing it and that's what counts!


All in all, it was a relaxed day spent with my favorite people!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
