Taste of Disney

Thursday evening we had an unexpected opportunity to go to Disney on Ice!  SG's teacher had tickets and wasn't able to go, so we bought them from her and enjoyed ourselves!  Sarah Graves was into the show, more than I thought she would be, and had a good time.  There were the main Disney characters, a Cars skit, Little Mermaid, Tinkerbell and the fairies, and the last half focused on Toy Story.  She is getting more and more excited about a future trip to Disney World when Charlie is a bit older.  These tastes of Disney keep building the excitement!  Charlie was a little alarmed at the noise at the beginning, but quickly got settled and had a great time the entire show!  Lovie was able to join us for a fun evening1








There were Disney items everywhere and some of them were thinks you can buy at the Disney store.  She quickly spied the cotton candy and had to have it and it came with a fairy hat!  I think we all took a turn wearing it at some point!  When we came out of the show, she really wanted a snow cone in a light up cup, but they were closed.  She settled for a light up tiara instead!  There is also the promise that we will soon go to the Disney store and get one of those light up and spin around kind of toys!  It really is cruel to parents and kids the way they do the merchandise at these events!
Glad we had the opportunity for some sort of spontaneous fun!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
