SG on Choir Tour

A big part of being in God's Light is going on choir tour! A 10-day bus tour to a different destination each year with stops along the way to sing at churches and do some sightseeing. Sarah Graves was so excited to go and we were really happy for her. This year's trip went to Mt. Rushmore and included a visit to Chicago and a few other stops that we didn't make on our trip. 
With lots of advice from others who have gone before and packing and repacking several times to be sure it was just right, she had her rolling duffle and carry on ready!

So excited for the adventure ahead!





















A big joy is seeing the bus pull in and watching them sing for our church. The music was beautiful and so touching after 35 years of doing this for the youth at Smyrna First!


We were all there to greet her and Pops brought flowers. 

While the kids were away, the parents got together for dinner and sharing notes on what was going on with the kids on tour!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
