Easter People

With our worries about Lucy, we struggled to feel the same joy in celebrating Easter that we typically do. I took comfort in words from our priest leading up to Easter. He preached about us in the church being Easter people. Easter people know on their worst day that God is with them and we will one day go to be with him. There was comfort in that as we muddled through our Easter traditions.

We originally planned to celebrate Easter and attend a family reunion in Baton Rouge, but canceled those plans to be with Lucy. Celebrating holidays just the four of us feels awkward adding to the melancholy.

The kids enjoyed dyeing Easter eggs and baking some treats to celebrate.

Easter morning brought an earlier than usual wake-up call as SG was singing at the Son Rise service with a call time of 6 am!  We were a little bleary eyed looking at Easter baskets in the early morning darkness.

The early wake-up was hard, but the bitter cold outdoor service was really hard!

We were first in line to get a table for brunch at Copeland's! That was a treat for sure and we tried to make the most of the day.

We are so grateful to God and the chance to be Easter people!
