Charlie’s Highlights

Here are some snippets and pictures from throughout the fall just kind highlighting the fun things that Charlie likes to do.
 
Charlie was happy to start band and has been taking lessons to learn the clarinet. He is making a lot of progress and it is fun to hear him play.

This is default position for Charlie playing video games, wearing his headset, and camped out on the couch in the basement. There are many exclamations of “Dude” and “Bro” during these play sessions.

Charlie has started singing in the Tomorrow’s Promise choir and he is really enjoying it, especially being with his good buddy, Harrison!

On Sunday evenings Sarah Graves goes to youth and Aaron and I have the chance to have dinner with just Charlie. It’s fun for him to get to be the only kid for a bit.









As a stem activity, their school had a company come to teach about design elements and aerodynamics making airplanes.

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
