Goodbye, Pigeon Forge

After a beautiful week in the mountains it was time to head home.
One more group pic to remember this beautiful view.

Mom and Dad remembering their honeymoon in the Smokies just over fifty years ago.

We started heading for home and took advantage of the short drive to stop off and visit The Lost Sea Caverns. On the way there we took the scenic route passing through small farm towns on winding roads that led Charlie to get car sick. Luckily, he recovered quickly and we were able to enjoy our sightseeing.

Inside the cave with the lake behind them. Looks like a dark picture, but it was cool to see!

Pic of the fish who live in the lake. Fish were brought to the lake in the 1960s and tagged in an effort to learn how and if the water flowed in and out of the cavern. No one ever found the fish out of the cave, so they still dont know.

My cave explorers

The tour included walking through and seeing formations, parts of the cave's history like when they tried running a speakeasy in it (turns out drunks have a hard time navigating caves :) ), and a boat ride to explore the lake.

Being able to make another stop on our way home made it feel like our vacation lasted a little longer.
