A Birthday Party for Jesus

Shortly after we started going to Smyrna First UMC, they held tryouts for the Christmas program. Sarah Graves stepped forward and auditioned for a big role and she was pleased to be cast as Ms. Wright, one of the leads!

After months of listening to the music, Charlie and I knew the words too!



She did a great job! She knew her lines, sang her solos, and had great stage presence!




All those many rehearsals really paid off! The show came out great!

Grancy and Gramma drove in to see her perform!

Pops and Lovie were so proud of her they were bursting!


We were very proud too! She did a great job, but I was most proud that she had the courage to go for it!

During the show Charlie started feeling unwell and by the next morning, our plans were all disrupted. Grancy and Gramma started for home as soon as we told them Char had COVID. Two days later Aaron and I started with it, and then Christmas was messed up. A lot of disappointment, but we were grateful to have mild symptoms and only truly feel sick for a few days.

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
