Two States at the Same Time!

After spending the night near Springfield, MO, the kids were very excited to have the hotel breakfast, they love those waffle stations! Then, we were on the road to Omaha, NE.
If we are being honest, we did not go to Omaha because there is so much to see. We picked it because we agreed that if a road trip was going to be fun, we couldn't have days where we did nothing but drive. So, we stopped in Omaha to see the spot where Lewis and Clark passed on the Missouri River as they explored the Louisiana Purchase on behalf of President Jefferson.
The kids enjoyed playing around this children's park area before we made our way across the pedestrian bridge.

There were some playful sculptures like this bridge troll!

There was a construction crew working on the bank and Sarah Graves was both intrigued and concerned by the employee who would holler out!

The bridge straddles the Missouri River between Nebraska and Iowa. Cool to stand in each at one time!

We tried to fathom how it must have been for Lewis and Clark as they set out to explore and document this land with no information from those before them.

We took time to walk around an area called Old Town with shops and art galleries.
We had to visit Pop's Corner!

Charlie was all about the wacky! It was fun to have time to just wander and show each other things we thought were interesting.

I picked two restaurants in Omaha that looked interesting and were stops from DDD - Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins. Wouldn't you know, both were close due to staffing issues. So, we pivoted and went to Sarah Graves' pick - Spaghetti Works. When we walked up, there were families with lots of kids waiting everywhere and I was like, "what is this, kids eat free?" As it turns out, it was! It was a bit like Romper Room in there with sword fights with forks and kids running around everywhere, but we were seated in a table in its own little alcove and had a delightful dinner!

We stayed the night just across the state line in Iowa and enjoyed a lovely soak in the hot tub before sleep!
