Spring Break!

Spring break came the first week in March. We were ready for a break from work and school and to be outside in the sun! We left Atlanta with cold, wet weather and headed to Orlando to Universal. The traffic down was rough, but the kids are good and we passed a lot of the time reading aloud and having snacks!
We chose a hotel that was newly built and online didn't have actual pictures yet. We had teased Sarah Graves quite a bit that we were hoping the hotel would be there when we got there. She thought it was completely ridiculous that we would book such a place :)
When we got to our suite, it was all smiles!
The kids were pleased that we each had our own bed They could have shared, but nice to have their own in their own separate space.

The kids thought our kitchenette was quite fun with its own dining table. Charlie had the idea to bring a toaster to have waffles and pop tarts in the mornings and that worked great!

This was our first trip to Universal, but we have done several to Disney, so we expected something like that. Universal isn't quite as integrated so you need a hotel room key, park ticket, and tickets for other activities like character meals and photo pass. You need your room key to get into Universal Studios for the extra hour as a park hotel guest. Luckily, I heard the recommendation to bring a lanyard so that we could keep up with our tickets and have them accessible throughout the park as they were needed.

Eager to explore, we headed to Universal City Walk to look around and enjoy dinner.

New experiences like riding a bus are lots of fun!

We enjoyed a yummy dinner at Hard Rock and told the kids what a big deal it was to have a Hard Rock shirt when we were growing up. They didn't share that opinion, but enjoyed the meal!

Charlie was intrigued by the pink Cadillac and had fun getting a picture of it as it rotated. Our server told us how they build the bar, hung the car, and the built the rest of the restaurant around it.

We read about Voodoo Doughnut online and Aaron went to one in Oregon.

Yep, they were delicious! A yummy dessert!
