Parade Time!

We had a blast at the Krewe of Highland parade!
It rained all morning, then thankfully, the rain cleared out for the parade! Grandaddy and Mi Mi went ahead of us and staked out a good spot near the parade start. A quick pizza delivery on the parade route made for a good time waiting for it to roll!



This parade uses floats from some of the other parades, so we got to see the Boeuf Gras from Grandaddy and Mi Mi's parade!




We couldn't believe when we saw that Charlie Caldwell was running for City Marshall!

Charlie loved to scramble for candy, beads, and bouncy balls! He caught a bunch of stuffed animals, too!


Sissy caught a cool purple cowgirl hat.


Charlie snagged some snazzy sunglasses.

They got a big kick out of catching a hot dog! It was still warm too!

 Charlie caught a ton of beads!

Going through their throws after the parade was the most fun!

Sissy was most proud of some of her weird throws! Several packs of ramen, moon pies, candy, a hat for a doll, a barbie doll, an emoji pillow, and a variety of rubber ducks all made the list!

I love how much they love Mardi Gras and wish they could celebrate it big time! Maybe one day we will spend time in New Orleans making some of the memories I have from childhood.

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
