Spirit Week!

Sarah Graves loved Spirit Week last year and had been looking forward to going back this year!  Volunteers were needed, so Lovie signed up to be a shepherd and Charlie headed to the nursery.  
We were pretty nervous about Charlie going to the nursery, since his prior experiences resulted in him crying and clinging to me so that I just stayed with him.  We started talking it up the week before and telling him the names of the caregivers he would play with; plus, I sent LOTS of good snacks in his bag with instructions to keep feeding him as much as he wanted!  That seemed to do the trick and he arrived the first day saying the name of he caregiver we knew well from Sarah Graves' days in the church nursery and he never looked back!  He seemed pretty happy even when he saw Lovie going up and down the hall shepherding kids to activities.  
Sarah Graves had a wonderful time being with her friends, Greg and Allie.  She enjoyed the crafts and Bible stories a lot!  Lovie reported that she was a model student and patiently sat and listened to all of the teachers.  She really is becoming a big girl!  

SG was excited to be in the class with her friend, Allie.

This sweet guy was worn out from a morning in the nursery and settled in for a nap during their performance.

SG enjoyed being with Greg all week.

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
