Play Table

We received this play table and chairs as a baby gift from my super-sweet friend, Sarah.  She gave it to us because she remembered how much fun she had as a child playing at her own little table.  The table was unfinished so that we could make it special for Sarah Graves.  I have been paralyzed to do anything with it for almost 2 years fearing that I wouldn't be able to do anything as cute as the ideas I had in my head. 

I had visions of detailed custom painted stripes, polk-a-dots, and flowers.  As usual, it is a little more difficult than I want it to be, but I am pleased with what I accomplished.  Painted on the chairs are the phreses, you are loved and you are enough.   I picked these because I thought they were the two things I would want any child to walk around this world knowing.  She is loved and she is enough just the way she is, no changing herself for anyone else is needed. 

The yellow was a given because it is her favorite color and she went with me to pick out the pink and purple and was so proud of herself for that!  She loves this table and loves trying to carry the chairs around!  I am excited for her to be able to enjoy it.

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
