Father Daughter Camping

While Charlie and I were in Baton Rouge, Aaron and SG were attending a father daughter campout at  Camp Misty Mountain in North Georgia. 

They had quite the adventure as a huge rain storm came through and lightening struck in the field where they were in their tent. They made the choice to head to the car for safety while they waited for the storm to pass and get back to sleeping. 

There were lots of activities they could join in and they tried quite a few!


Sissy liked doing archery.

They had fun learning about leather tooling. She made a neat hair accessory too.

She did some rock climbing practice.

They did some hiking with other girls. 

She was excited about her hiking stick that she found near their campsite!

They stopped off for Waffle House on their way home. Camping food for SG turned out a little rough. Turns out it is hard to make Jiffy Pop on a camping stove!

I think she and Aaron made some great memories camping and she would like to do it again!

Frozen Party Details

Like most girls her age, Sarah Graves LOVES Frozen and has known for quite some time that she wanted a Frozen birthday party. I was so excited when I saw this invitation on Etsy and she loved it too! It reminded me of an infographic. The Frozen theme was a lot of fun! There were so many things to choose from that I took to pinterest and eventually decided on the ideas that I would use for this party. I found this great Arendelle banner here on Pinterest I was so grateful that my sister did a snowflake Christmas and had tons of snowflake ornaments to hang as decorations! This party theme was a lot of fun to plan the food. Kristoff's ice cubes were made from Jell-o with an ombre effect. I found the recipe here on Pinterest. I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 size pan of it and I made 2 13x9 pans of it. The made plenty of "ice cubes" to fill 35 cups. They turned out really cute! My parents made this Elsa cake and did a fabulous job

Cloth vs. Disposable

We have mostly been planning to do disposable diapers because I felt that cloth would just be too much work when I go back to work.  Then, we saw these diapers called happy heiny's ( www.happyheinys.com ).  These looked much different than what I envisioned cloth diapers to look like.  Mom used cloth diapers with me and Jeanne', so she felt totally up for using them while Sarah Graves is at her house.  I started looking into the cost comparison and depending on what type of cloth diapers you buy, you can save anywhere from $1200 - $1700.  That is pretty attractive, not to mention knowing that you aren't filling up a landfill somewhere.  There are lots of different varieties of cloth diapers out there, but the ones that seem to be a good investment and user friendly are diapers that have snap closures, with a pocket for an insert to absorb the contents, and they are one size that adjusts as your baby grows from a newborn up to 35 pounds.  You can also purchase the traditio
