Letter Month Four
Dear Charlie,
The last few weeks have passed by so quickly as we
all got used to me being back to work and prepared for your first Christmas.
You made the transition to staying with Lovie pretty well. You are
getting used to drinking from the bottle even if you only drink about 2 ounces
at a time! We thought for sure a big boy like you would take more, but
that makes you content. You are doing better with sleeping outside of
someone's arms and seem to find your carrier a cozy place to sleep. You
enjoy being swaddled and sleeping in there and sometimes you will nap for two
or three hours in there! Lovie and Pops have enjoyed all your gummy
smiles during the day and making you giggle.
You do the cutest thing and put your hands on my
face with your mouth open wide as you lean in for what seems like a big kiss!
I don't know if you know it's a kiss you are giving, but it sure is sweet
to feel your little hands turning my face to you. You are so cuddly and
seem to be generally happy. You smile when someone locks eyes with yours
and you will giggle just from having your chin tickled! You are quite the
wiggle worm and like to test your strength often. You are now strong
enough to play in your exersaucer or as we call it, your "office".
You amuse yourself there quite well and are now learning to rotate the
seat so you can select which thing you want to look at. You are also
becoming very amused by your sister. She loves to watch you and she tries
to give you toys. In return, you give her gummy smiles and try to grab
her hair!
We have all had several colds in the last month and
unfortunately, you are not immune. You take it in stride and seem to
continue being happy despite goopy eyes, runny nose, and a cough. You
definitely have a temper and it comes out when we have to wipe your nose or
give you any kind of medicine. You go into an all out fit and have a
pretty loud cry!
You are quite the babbler too. You have
conversations with us and are practicing making all sorts of sounds. I
would swear that sometimes you say, "uh huh" when I ask you a
question!
Night sleep is still something that we are
perfecting. You are getting better about sleeping in the bassinet for a
while before Daddy and I are ready for bed. Then, you wake up and sleep
next to me. You seem to want to nurse through the night and the pacifier
is not a replacement for that. The night nursing may be a bit extreme as
you seem to eat until you make yourself sick and throw up. Hopefully, we can
get that under control! Soon you will be too big for your bassinet and I
think we will have to introduce you to your crib. Hopefully, you will
like it better when we give it another try!
When you look into my eyes and give me a big smile,
it is like our souls are connecting and I think of that moment when we saw each
other for the first time. I am truly blessed to be loved so much.
Charlie, you are definitely the best gift we could have ever hoped for
this year. You light up our lives and seem to bring joy to our entire
family. I hope that one day you have a child of your own and know how
wonderful it feels to share that kind of joy with others.
Love,
Momma
